Every holiday season there is a must find, must get, must give toy and this year it is Bakugan Battle Brawlers. These toys are the latest craze based on a hit television series on the Cartoon network.
The toys have a retro cousin in that they are like the old game of marbles. Bakugan Battle Brawlers however are definitely from the 21st century. Unlike their distant cousins, where you flick a marble (shooter) and try and knock your opponent out of a circle to win his prize marble(mib), the Bakugans are rolled within a battle area and over magnetic cards which cause the spheres to expand.
The Metal cards located in the battle area are used to expand the spherical shape to their hidden identity. Bakugans have very interesting names and character types and it takes a 7+ year old to remember them and teach you how to pronounce them. Darkus Dragonoid, Pyrus Gorem and Bakugan Deka are some examples.
These toys are extremely addicting and they come in many colors, sizes and shapes with many different accessories for carrying, playing and shooting the them. In order to play the game you have to have a least three Bakugan Battle Brawlers, but ten or more is not uncommon.
The colors, designs and fantasy of the Bakugans are extremely well done and add to the excitement and fun of this game. These collectibles are connected in a very cohesive way between the games, television program, posters and books.
Bakugan Battle Brawlers are more than just a game however. There is an entire story behind these fun and fascinating toys. Dan, the leader of the Brawlers, is 12 years old and is always looking for adventure. His goal is to be the number one ranked Bakugan player in the world.
Pyrus Drago, is Dan’s guardian Bakugan. Pyrus Drago is a dragon-like character from Pyrus and is the most powerful creature in Vestroia. Dan and Pyrus are great friends and count on each other in battle. Pyrus is the leader and the two are an unstoppable team.
